
Sabaton Played their Dutch part of their “The Great Tour” having seen them on their “The Last Stand” tour in 2016 I couldn’t wait to see them live again. This time they brought Amaranthe and Apocalyptica as supporting acts.
Amaranthe

Is a Swedish heavy metal band, founded in 2008 the band currently consists vocalist Elize Ryd, Vocalist Hendrik Englund Wilhelmsson, vocalist Nils Molin, guitarist/keyboardist Olof Mörck, Bassist Johan Andreassen and drummer Morten Løwe Sørensen

Notably the band has toured with bands like “I Prevail” and “Within Temptation”
Their set was filled with an impressive light show and perfect teamwork between all the band members, during their 45- minute set they played songs like “Digital World”, “Helix” and “The Nexus”
Apocalyptica

Apocalyptica is a Finnish symphonic metal band, founded in 1993 the band currently consists of cellists Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Perttu Kivilaakso and drummer Mikko Sirén.
The band has released 8 studio albums with their first release “Plays Metallica by Four Cellos” consisting of Metallica covers. What is most notably about this band is the absence of electric guitars in their sound

The band has head guests like “Lacey Strum” Formerly of Flyleaf and “Adam Gontier” formerly of “Three Day Grace”
Their set was somewhat unexpected as all of their songs were played on cellos and head little to no lyrics. During their set they were joined by Amaranthes Elize Ryd to sing songs like Ramstein’s “Seemann” and “I Don’t Care”, by the second half of the set the band had the crowd singing along to covers of Metallica’s “Seek & Destroy” and “Nothing Else Matters”, getting the crowd ready for Sabaton.

Sabaton is a Swedish powermetal band, founded in 1999 the band currently consists of vocalist Joakim Brodén, guitarist Chris Rörland, guitarist Tommy Johansson bassist Pär Sundström and drummer Hannes van Dahl
The bands songs are centered around historical themes, the band has released 9 albums with their most recent album Great War being released in 2019.
Notably the band has toured with acts like “Hammerfall”, “Iron Maiden” and “Alestorm”
Furthermore, the band has won several awards, such as “Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards” for Best Live Band in both 2013 and 2018

Sabaton started their set with a bang, getting the crowd to immediately sing along to their song “Ghost division” other highlights include the band entering the stage wearing gasmasks during their performance of “The Attack of The Dead Men”, the band being joined by Apocalyptica to play Songs Like “Fields of Verdun” “Dominium Maris Baltici” and “Carolus Rex”
The band ended their powerfull show filled with costumes and fireworks by playing songs like “Primo Victoria” “Swedish Pagans” and “To Hell and Back” and last but not least the Dutch tradition with Sabaton, vocalist Joakim removing his pants and putting them on his head.
