5 Bands I Think You Should Check Out: February 2021

It’s time to take a look at 5 new bands. So, ready your note books, here are this months 5 bands I think you should check out! 

One Life to Lead

One Life to Lead

One Life To Lead is an American Nu-Punk band, a gerne they very much are at the forefront off. Established around 2015 the band currently consists of vocalist Trey  Miller, guitarist Casey Allen, guitarist Brandan Willis, bassist Matt Demorest and drummer Ronnie Sherman.

The band has released three Eps, since 2017 with their most recent release being the single “Bent” (2020)

The band has also preformed with the likes of “Blessthefall”, “Sundressed” and “Anabor

What I like about their sound is how they mix a variety of influences from nu-metal, easycore and pop punk, which leads to their new invented gerne Nu-Punk, which makes them feel like a mix of “All Time Low”, “Belmont” and “Linkin Park”      

Songs I recommend are “Be Honest”, “Heavyweights” and “Hometown”

Pinkshift

Pinkshift is an American, 90s influenced grunge/pop punk band. Born in 2018, the band currently consists of vocalist “Ashrita Kumar”, guitarist “Paul Vallejo” , bassist Erich Weinroth and drummer Myron Houngbedji

The band has released four songs thus far, with the latest being “Rainwalk” (2020) which makes me look forward to more releases.

In the live circuit the band has played shows with artists such as “No Moniker”, “Leisure sports” and “Via Intercom”

What I like about their sound are the fuzzy filled tunes and punchy vocals, with the 90s influences shining fully through.

Songs I recommend are “Toro”, “I’m gonna tell my therapist on you” and “Rainwalk”

Mint Green

Mint Green is an American Pop punk four piece, Founded in the Fall of 2015, the band at present consists of vocalist/guitarist Ronnica, guitarist Frank Prince, bassist Brandon Geeslin and drummer Daniel Huang.

The band has two eps and a couple of covers the band features on their bandcamp behind their name up to now, with their latest release being “Growth” (2016).

The band has shared the stage with artists such as “Why,Arizona?” “Slingshot Dakota” and “I Wish I Could Skateboard”

What I like about their sound are the surfy undertones and summer vibes in their music. Reminding me of bands like “After Aristotle” and “Fidlar”  

Songs I recommend are “Callie” , “Timestamped” and “Holy”

Another One Down!

Another One Down!

Another One Down! is a pop punk band from the United States, formed in 2014, the band at the moment consists of vocalist Marcus Simonini, guitarist Brandon Teh, guitarist Alex Thetonia and drummer Ryan Beck.

Their discography currently consists of three Eps and a couple of singles with the most recent drop being “Stuck in the Wake” (2020).

On the side of touring the band has hit the road with “Driveways”, “Four Year Strong” and “WSTR” with also being the opener on for “Drake Bell” on his postponed tour.

What I like about their sound is how they are going for a more traditional pop punk sound, with some refreshing post-hardcore influences. 

Songs I recommend are “Break Through”, “Sulk” and “Stuck in the Wake”

Magnolia Park

Magnolia Park

Magnolia Park is a pop punk five piece from the United States, formed somewhere around 2018. The band currently consists of vocalist Joshua Roberts, guitarist Tristian Torres, guitarist Freddie Criales, bassist Jared Melani and drummer Scott Ellis.

The bands discography consists of one EP and a handful of singles thus far, with their latest release being “Love Me” which noteworthily guest features Kellin Quinn

In terms of shows the band has shared the stage with acts such as “Capstan” , “Like Pacific” and “I Met A Yeti”   

What I like about their sound is how it amalgamates the new electronics driven vibe of pop punk with the more hardcore influences of the sadboi era of pop punk. The band reminds me of acts like “Point North” “With Confidence” and “Driveways

Songs I recommend are “October”, “Love Me” and “Sick of It All”
