It’s the last Wednesday of the month, so let’s put the spotlight on 5 new bands I think you should check out.

Tigress

Rebecca Need-Menear

Tigress are a British rock band, established somewhere around 2015 the band currently consists of vocalist Katy Jackson, guitarist Tom Harrison, guitarist Sean Bishop, bassist Jack Divey and drummer Josh Coombes.

Their discography currently consists three Ep’s and a handful of singles with their most recent release being the single “F.L.Y.”

In terms of live shows the band has been active almost as long as their existence as a band, and shared the stage with acts such as “COUNTERFEIT”, “Story Untold” and “Ticket Alien”

What I like about their sound are the dark tones, and grunge influences that can be felt on the fuzzy guitars and the vocal patterns, which are combined with pop orientated hooks.

Songs I recommend are “Power Lines”, “Alive and “F.L.Y.

Out of It is an American pop punk band formed somewhere before 2018 and currently consisting of vocalist/guitarist Nick Roque, guitarist Nick Hanus and bassist Rei Luna.

The band’ous discography consists of one Ep and a couple of singles thus far, with their latest release being “Til I Forget About You” originally by “Big Time Rush”

The group also has been making wave with their live performances and the band has played shows with the likes of “Meet Me @ The Altar” , “Felicity” and “408

What I like about their sound is how they just kick forward with fast and bouncy pop punk, featuring great hooks and loud guitars.

Songs I recommend are “Jade”, “Sidewalks” and “Day Zero”

Hazel

Hazel are an alternative rock 4-piece from Canada, formed for the ashes of pop punk band The Wildhood, the band re-branded to hazel near the end of 2019 and currently consists of vocalist Tom, guitarist Andrew, bassist Brad and drummer Seb.

The band has released one Ep and around 8 singles under the Hazel moniker so far and is hinting at more music to come soon.

With the band adopting the Hazel moniker at the start of the pandemic, the haven’t had a change to sink their teeth fully into the live scene, that being said the band has played shows under their old name “The Wildhood” under which they have played shows with acts such as “Incase We Crash”, “Heavy Hearts” and “Like Pacific

What I like about their sound is how they combine traditional pop punk sounds, with post hardcore and metalcore influences, creating both hooks and atmospheric sounds.

Songs I recommend are “Deathwish”, “Delude” and “Fake Love”

Finding September

Finding September is a Pop Punk/ Alternative Rock band from the US, formed somewhere around 2016, the band has been through a couple of line-up changes through the years and currently consists of vocalist Emily Bayardo, guitarist “Josh Gomez” and drummer “Jayden Mermella”

In terms of live performances the band has made a name for themselves and has been featured on line-up’s alongside acts such as “Taken By Tides” “With Confidence” and “Nominee

What I like about their sound is the combination of Modern pop punk, with old and new school heavy metal influences, making for a darker feeling in their music while still having its fun at moments

Songs I recommend are “Let It Burn”, “Fools Gold” and “Hostage”

We Are The Movies
