Release Radar #102

Its time for another release radar, lets dive into this weeks releases

In the Way – Ithaca

Opening with drowned vocals and instruments, the sound slowly comes back. The song keeps with the loud and screaming vocals for the introduction, but also introduces some clean vocals around the chorus. Drums introduce the second part of the song going into djenting guitars and haunting vocals. The grunting returns, mixing with the haunting backing vocals and pounding drums. The song ends with one last clean part and the guitars going soft.

Lyrically the song is basically a revanche fantasy, a darker type of subject matter than expected.

What I like about this song is almost constant energy, perfectly moshible

The Right Shade Of Red – Second Harbour

Kicking right of with vocals and full instrumentation the song quickly flows forward towards the chorus, adding more vocal energy to the mix. The chorus itself features harsher vocals, contrasting with the softer parts of the verses. The second verse keeps soft but builds back to the harsher sounds. Going for more of a breakdown on the bridge, the song ends with one last chorus.

Lyrically the song is basically a love song, with the protagonist declaring his love.

What I like about this song is the contrast of vocal energy between the chorus and the verses.

ERA – The Faim

Opening with electronic beats, the song slowly introduces its vocals and drums to the mix. The vocals get louder and guitar is introduced going in to the chorus. The second verse features piano on the instrumentation, also replacing the guitar on the second chorus with piano until the end of the chorus. The bridge mixes all instruments together in one instrumental performance. The song ends with one last chorus.

Lyrically the song is about the end of an era and the protagonist remaining about all the memories that are made with that era.

What I like about this song is the upbeat feel of the song and the feeling of closure it gives sonically, fitting with its overall theme.

Tomorrow I’ll Be – The Vices

Starting of with piano, the song slowly introduces its vocals into the mix, keeping the song piano and vocal only, slowly burning towards the chorus, with slightly louder vocals and a faster piano. The second verse makes the piano even louder but quickly gets slower with the introduction of the vocals. The second chorus repeats the feel of the first keeping the song emotional tone. Adding more vocal effect and some other instruments on the bridge, the song still keeps with the piano and slowly plays itself out till the end.

Lyrically the song is an emotional ballet about a better tomorrow

What I like about this song is its slow and emotional feel.

Spaceman – Electric Callboy feat Finch

The song kicks of with some electronic beats and English vocals, before going all in with its beats and some German vocals. As expected from Electric Callboy, the song also features guitars and grunting vocals to the mix. This structure of beats, German vocals and grunting with guitars repeats for the second part of the song, with the song going into full breakdown mode on the bridge. The song ends with one last chorus.

Lyrically the song is a basic party song, with the protagonist disclaiming that he is a spaceman.

What I like about this song is its classing of styles.
