5 Bands I Think You Should Check Out!: March 2022

A new month has flown by, which means time to put 5 new bands into the spotlight again.

Glimmers

Glimmers are a pop rock/pop punk band from the US, being stamped “Glimmers” since 2020 the band currently consists of vocalist Maggie Schneider, guitarist Alex Downtain, guitarist Alex Norrell, bassist Ari Sparrow and drummer Jeremy Russell.

The band has released two eps and a handful of singles until now.

In terms of shows, the band has shared the stage with acts such as “Another Year Unknown” , “Arrested Youth” and “lostbody”

What I like about their sound is the upbeat nature and sing along hooks, powerful but still poppy.

Songs I recommend are “By The Lips” “The First Thing” and “For Me It’s You”

Elwood Stray

Elwood Stray are German post-hardcore band, Formed somewhere around 2017 the band currently consists of vocalist Maik guitarist Fabi, guitarist Niels, bassist Raphael, and drummer Raphael.  

Currently the band has one Ep and a handful of singles behind their name, with the latest release being the single “Triality”

As far as live performances go, the band has played shows with acts such as “The Plot In You”, “Bad Omens” and “Polar”

What I like about their sound is how hard-hitting they are, while maintaining song writing qualities and pop sensibilities.   

Songs I recommend are  “Hollow” , “Transparent” and “Burn the Bridge”

Electric Skyline

Electric Skyline are a self-described Internet pop band. Established in 2020,The band currently consists of Robby Walton, Blake Brock and Jesse Walpole. 

What makes the band stand out is the bands way of making music with 1/3 of the band being situated in Nashville and 1/3 being in Birmingham most of the band’s music was being made through the internet.

Thus far the band has played one show as a whole band.

In terms of releases the band has released a handful of singles.

Most intriguing about this band is the way they are formed, showing the progress that the internet is bringing to the current scene and music industry as a whole, which makes you question, how local will a local scene stay if the internet is involved. 

What I like about their sound is the dreamy vibe and creative use of sound effects and synths.

Songs I recommend are “Herbal Perfume”, “No Phones” and “Denim Nites”

Treehouse Kids

Treehouse Kids are pop punk band from Barcelona, formed somewhere around 2015, the band currently consists of vocals Andrew Schwartz, guitarist Pau Velasco, bassist Roger Mata and drummer Alex Brull.

The band has released a couple of singles and one Ep, with their latest release being the single “Daisies”

In terms of live shows the band has mostly played local, but there is one opening slot that gives the band bragging rights. Which is when they opened for “State Champs”

What I like about their sound is their energetic pop punk sound, which also gives me 2010 vibes but with some fresh takes added.

Songs I recommend are “A Brighter February”, “Reverie”, and “Thin Lights”

Happy Hour

Happy Hour are an American alternative rock band, founded somewhere around 2017, the band currently consists of vocalist Nate, guitarist Erik and bassist Kevin.

The band has released two Eps and a slew of singles with their latest release being the single “What You Need”

Within the live circuit the band has played with acts such as “Lilac Kings” “I Met A Yeti” and “Afterlife”

What I like about their sound is how they combine pop rock, with some more groovy influences, which mostly reminded me of “Set It Off” songs and some more internet age artist. 

Songs I recommend are “T.Y.S.M”, “What You Need” and “White Girl Drinks”
