Release Radar #76

Thank god its Friday again, and I got 5 new release for you!

Outta My Head – State Champs

Opening with the vocals and guitar simultaneously, the song keeps an effect over the focus until the first verse. Reeling you in on the chorus with its catchy hook the song builds its momentum into the next verse. The second chorus is much the same as the first. Missing the bridge the song just slows down the chorus on a repeat and ends with one last chorus at full speed.

Lyrically the song is about love, and keeping thinking about that one person.

What I like about this song are the upbeat vibes and heavy guitars, as well as the hooks on the chorus.

Who Do You Think You Are? – The Band Camino

Starting of with a slow synthesizer, the song adds dreamy vocals and slow drums to the mix. Keeping with the dream synth vibe on the chorus, the song does introduce louder vocals. The second verse mirrors the sound of the first and flows to the chorus just as smooth. Things get a little weird on the bridge, where a multitude of electronic effects are added. The song ends with one last chorus.

Lyrically the song is self- reflective and the protagonist is talking about how they have changed and don’t feel like themselves anymore.

What I like about this song is the overall vibe and how it keeps smoothly flowing forward, while also being catchy.

If There’s A Fire – High Sierra Club

Kicking of with heavy guitars and pounding drums, the band takes things slower when the vocals are introduced. Turning up in the chorus the song keeps a gloomy vibe. Mirroring the first verse the second also revolves its instrumentation about the drums, going into the chorus in the same way. Instead of a bridge the song features a third verse and ends with on last chorus.

Lyrically the song talks about being left behind, and the impact it has on the protagonist.

What I like about this song are its guitars, giving of a math rock/midwestern emo vibe. Secondly I like how the drums dictate the verses lyrical flow.

Lovin’ Every Day – Two Year Break ft Charlie Simpson

Starting of with eerie beats and slow electric guitars, the song introduces distorted vocals and guitars as well as drums to the first verse. The clear at the chorus and going into the second verse, but do have a screaming quality to it. The second verse is sung by Charlie as well as the second chorus. The bridge brings back harsher vocals and pounding drums. The song ends with one last chorus and eerie instrumentals.

Lyrically the song talks about being stuck in the motions but also enjoying the moments.

What I like about this song is the darker feel, and how the poppy hooks alternate with some heavy vocal work.

Perfume – Charmplay

Opening with up-beat synths, the song takes a step back with the introduction of the vocals. The chorus brings back the upbeat guitars and synths, with the verse again taking a step back. The second chorus follows the same blueprint as the first. Changing up the synths melody on the bridge gives a change of feel, but quickly the synths are back with their chorus melody. The song ends with some synths mirroring the intro.

Lyrically the song is a basic love song, with the protagonist talking about how they can’t keep away from someone.

What I like about this song are the upbeat synths and bubblegum pop vibes I get from the song.
