Release Radar #63

It is time to for fresh tunes.

5 AM – Midnight Ambulance

The song kicks right of with its eerie atmosphere and hypnotic vocals. The chorus adds to the nerving vibe with slightly louder instruments. Going back to its hypnotic vocals on the second verse makes the song have a high contrast between the chorus and verse. Kicking things into high gear is the bridge of the song, featuring louder vocals and fuzzy guitars which set on their sonically effect throughout the end section of the song.

Lyrically the song deals with the psychological impact of lockdown and the perspective it brings to the past.

What I like about the song is its overall vibe, it’s slightly dark tones and precise  vocals have you drawn in from the start.

Society – Valley

Opening with dreamy synths, electronic drums and sleepy vocals, the song quickly adds guitars and vocal variety on the chorus. The second verse puts more emphasis on the drums before going back into the chorus. Going with underwater instruments on the bridge, the song ends with one last chorus.

Lyrically the song talks about an artists place with society and the feeling of selling out.

What I like about this song are the sweet summer vibes and the dreamy vocals.

Found a Home – Incase We Crash

Starting of with rolling drums and up-beat guitars, the song quickly adds its vocals into the mix going in a more relaxing direction before going louder on the chorus. The chorus breaks itself by adding some gang vocals and going softer into the second part of the chorus. The second verse takes the same approach as the first as well as the chorus. Going with the gang vocals on the chorus again, the song plays itself out with one last chorus.

Lyrically the song describes nightmares and scares for the future, before talking about optimism.

What I like about this song is the contrast between the verses and choruses.

Supervillain – Between You & Me

Opening with synths and drums, the song quickly adds vocals into the mix. The chorus goes in a heavier direction with loud guitars and energetic vocals. Going back to the more operatic sound on the verse, makes the second chorus go even louder. The bridge features soloing guitars and a version of the chorus with a different instrumentation. The song ends with some sound effects to play it out.

Lyrically the song talks about being hated and the protagonist feelings about it

What I like about this song is the unexpected instruments and vocals style that is used on it.

I Just Wanna Know What Happens When I’m Dead -Hot Milk

Kicking off with fuzzy bass before going al out, the song uses electronic effects on the vocals giving it a calming but dark feel, contrasting with the sweet pop tones on the chorus and their synthetic instrumentation. The second chorus starts of louder guitars and vocals again before showing Hot Milk vocal chemistry. The song ends with one last chorus.

Lyrically the song talks about exactly what the title suggest.

What I like about this song is the vocal chemistry and the combination of loud verse with pop hooks on the choruses.
