5 Bands I Think You Should Check Out: june 2020

It’s time to meet some new bands, so let’s cut to the chase and get in to this month’s 5 bands I think you should check out!

Meet Me @ The Altar

Meet Me @ The Altar

Meet Me @ The Altar is an American pop punk three-piece, founded in 2015 the band consists of vocalist Edith Johnson, guitarist Téa Campbell, and drummer Ada Juarez with addition of touring members Kaylie Sang on guitar and El Xiques on bass.

The band has released two eps “Changing States” (2018), “Bigger Than Me” (2019) and to singles thus far.

Other achievements include a set at Warped Winter 2020, an opening slot for “Belmont”, their own “Changing States tour” and last but not least a slot on Riot Fest 2021’s first wave.

What I like about their sound are the happy undertones, chucking fast guitars and the killer vocals. sonically the band reminds me bands like “The Story So Far” and older “Belmont” with a little bit of “We Are the In Crowd” thrown in.

 Songs I recommend are “May the Odds Be in Your Favor”, “Beyond My Control” and “Changing States”

Action/Adventure

Action/Adventure is a pop punk band from the U.S.A, established in 2014 the band currently consists of vocalist Blake Evaristo, vocalist/guitarist Brompton Jackson, guitarist Oren Trace, Bassist Manny Avila and drummer Adrian Brown.

The band has released a hand full of singles and three eps: “Rumble Pak” (2016), “Last Minute Stuntman” (2016) and “Going Heel” (2018) so far.  

On the touring side of things, the band has opened and played with such acts as “We were Sharks” “Boys of Fall” and “Abandoned by Bears

What I like about their sound is the combination of fast pop punk with more hardcore influenced guitars. To me it feels like a combination of “Set Your Goals” and “State Champs

Songs I recommend are “LXVI”, “Bone Crusher” and “Going Heel”  

A Place in Time

A Place in Time is a pop punk Three-piece from Sliver Spring, U.S.A. formed in 2010 the band currently consists of vocalist/guitarist Joel VI Brittania, guitarist/vocalist Danny Salsbury and bassist/vocalist Caleb Dorsch.

The band has released one Ep “Perish the Thought” (2016) as well as two albums “Not for Nothing/ Take This to Heart” (2011) and “A Place in Time” (2018)

Also, noteworthy achievements are a spot at warped tour 2013 and shows with bands such as “With the Punches” “Sideshow Cinema” and “Wvnder”

What I like about their sound are the heavy guitars combined with catchy lyrics and powerful vocals. sonically they remind me of bands like “Citizen”, “Real Friends” and “Me Vs Hero”  

Songs I recommend are “The Difference”, “Perish the Thought” and “Cakewalk”           

Cleveland Avenue

Cleveland Avenue is an American pop punk 5 piece, established somewhere around 2017, the band currently consists of vocalist Joshua Berry, guitarist/vocalist Thomas Bulvan, guitarist/vocalist Kevin Patrick, bassist Dominic Carabez and Drummer Adam Gay.

The band has released one ep “True Love Is Not Just a Pizza Tattoo” (2019)

In the area of shows the band has opened and played alongside acts such as “Handguns”, “Young Culture” and “This Year as A Ghost”

What I like about their sound is the mix of easy core vibe combined with a more modern pop punk tone. They sound like a mix of “Four year Strong” and “Taking Back Sunday

Songs I recommend are “We Both Need Therapy, but That’s Not a Bad Thing”, “Stu Macher Is Shaggy Rogers” and “True Love Is Not Just a Pizza Tattoo”            

Bleacher Days

Bleacher Days

Bleacher Days is an American pop punk band. Founded in 2016, the band currently consists vocalist Wren Mohammed, guitarist Liam Hurson, guitarist Peter Johnston, bassist Shane Davis and drummer Mike Keseian.

The band has released one Ep “I Only Saw True Purpose” (2017) thus far. Furthermore, the band has shared the stage with bands such as Losing Streak, Drop the Girl and The Home Team.

What I like about their sound is how hard hitting they are, it reminds me of bands like “Capstain” and “Trash Boat“.

Songs I Recommend are “All Out War” “Losing Patience” and “Low Eyes, Low Lives”
