It’s almost summer so let’s take a look at some songs to put on your summer playlist. Let’s get into this week’s Release Radar.
Reprimanded- Summer Heights ft Simon Austin

Opening with distorted but slow strumming guitars, the song has an overall calm vibe, with a more emotional undertone. The chorus introduces louder group vocals but keeps the song’s atmosphere intact. The second verse mirrors the first and gets into the chorus again. The bridge adds guitar solos and louder vocals to the mix, which give the song an even more emotional sound. The song ends on one last chorus.
Lyrically the song is about breaking of a toxic friendship, in which things seem to be one-way traffic.
What I like about this song is the calm and emotional vibe, which gives a nice contrast with the pop punk elements.
Crying out loud- State Champs

Starting with relaxing acoustic guitars, the song, adds group vocals on the chorus while keeping the constant acoustic guitar in the song. Most impressively is the lyrical flow the song keeps on the verses, seamlessly switching between the chorus and verse. On the bridge an acoustic guitar solo is added with even calmer vocals. The song ends on one last chorus.
Lyrically the song is a basic love song talking about someone who got away.
What I like about this song is the relaxing nature and the lyrical flow.
Jurassic Park – Stand Atlantic

Kicking of with punchy guitars and pounding drums, the song quickly introduces Bonnie her vocals with a distorted effect, getting to normal fast. The chorus explodes with energy accompanied by powerful vocals. The second verse gives the same vibe as the first. After the second chorus the song gets to the bridge which reintroduces the same vocal effects from the beginning of the song. The song ends with one last chorus doubling down on the energy.
Lyrically the song seems to be talking in metaphors a lot, which is basically coming down to a few of how people want you to be.
What I like about this song is the pure energy it gives, mostly Bonnie her vocals.
Won’t Be Me – Telltale

Starting of with a combination of sound effects and drums. The verses flow in almost like a rap song, overall, the song keeps getting louder working towards the chorus. The second verse keeps the same flow, putting all energy in the chorus again. The bridge is filled with drums, guitar and a sound effect. The song ends on a longer version of the chorus, filled with vocal effects.
Lyrically the song talks about losing one’s mind, basically saying that in the end I won’t be me.
What I like about this song is the combination of typical pop punk sound with some more electronic elements.
Hands Tied- Like Pacific ft Andrew Neufeld

Kicking off with fast guitars and even faster drums, the song keeps its energy going with the first verse and gets faster with the chorus. On the second verse the band takes it slower, before getting back full speed on the second chorus. The bridges feel more like a breakdown with Andrew’s grunting vocals giving the song more power. The song gets back on track with its mellower sound and ends on one last chorus sung by alternating and overlapping vocals.
Lyrically the song is about being left out, and feeling like your hands are tied.
What I like about this song is the heavy pop punk sound.
