5 Bands I Think You Should Check Out: Kingsday 2020 Special

This month’s 5 bands I think you should check out is a special one, because its Kingsdag in Holland this month we will focus one 5 Dutch bands. Let’s dive right in. 

Windup Space

Windup Space

Windup Space are an Alt-rock/Emo punk band, formed in 2012 the band currently consists of vocalist/guitarist Menno van Marle, bassist Jesse Kwaks and drummer Steven van Marle.

The band has released one Ep “The Only Thing We Have to Fear” (2016) and one full album “Shelter” thus far. Furthermore, the band has won prizes for best rock band of Breda and the small prize of Holland.

In the sense of shows the band has played with such bands as “The Spvrk”, “Agitator” and “Gender Roles”

What I like most about their sound is the combination of emotion and catchiness they use, in the vain of bands like “Jimmy Eat World”, “Basement” and “Grayscale

Songs I recommend are “Dead End Street”, “Scared Enough” and “Always Heaven”   

Ann my dice

Ann My Dice

Ann My Dice is a Metalcore band founded in 2012, currently the band consists of vocalist/guitarist Nils Stok, guitarist Ian Izeboud, bassist Jorn de Kleine and drummer Tim van Vliet.

The band currently has released one Ep “Thorn” (2019) and one Album, “To Start a Journey” (2018)  

Notably the band has toured with such bands as “Kick Me Out”, “Dog Tired” and “Attack on Sanity”

What I like about their sound is the combination of heavy riffs and scream along vocals, in the vain of bands like “Wage War”, “Killswitch Engage” and “2 Years”

Song I recommend are “Whisper in The Dark”,” it’s Cold Beneath” and “We Want Some More…”

Jason Waterfalls

Jason Waterfalls

Jason Waterfalls is an alternative poprock band, formed in 2015 the band currently consists of vocalist/guitarist Thijs, guitarist Paul, bassist Bas and drummer Kirill.

The band has released 9 singles and one album “Pillars” (2020) yet. In the era of touring the band has supported such bands as “Hands Like Houses”, “Against the Current” and “Call It Off

What I like about their sound is the combination of loud guitars and pop heavy synths in the vain of bands like “Don Broco” and “Noting but Thieves”

Songs I recommend are “Burn”, “New Reality” and “Silhouettes”  

       

Vxuy

Vxuy is an electronic pop band, after playing under various names the band found their current name and sound in 2018 and currently consists of vocalist/guitarist Rob Meere, guitarist Jelle Van der Zanden bassist Dave Verwey and drummer Niels van der Lans.

The band has released six singles thus far. Furthermore, the band has played with such bands as “Pale Waves” and “The Overslept

What I like about their sound is the combination of guitars and electronics that create mellow yet powerful songs in the vain of bands like “The 1975”, “The Band Camino” and “Waterparks

Song I Recommend are “Lover”, “Clothes” and “Primal”

The Hearted

The Hearted are a pop punk band established in 2011. Currently the band consists of vocalist/guitarist Jip Lee, vocalist/guitarist Kayleigh van der Wijst, bassist Casper de Haas and drummer Tom Schoone.

The band has released one album “Sorry for Apologizing” (2014) and 8 singles with their most recent release being “No Tomorrow”

On the touring side of things, the band has shared the stage with such acts as “Left Alive” , “Future Idiots” and “Screw Houston

What I like about their sound is the Male-And-Female dynamic combined with the old school pop punk vibe I get from them, in the vain of bands like “We Are the In Crowd”, “The 101’s” and “State Champs”  

Songs I recommend are “Burning Bridges”, “Make All Mistakes” and “Midnight Eyes”
